SPRINGFIELD — The blended flag of the United States and Ukraine hangs proudly in front of the house, delivering a wordless yet powerful message of unity, strength, courage and uncertainty.

“We are not refugees. We want to go home,” says Anastasiia Terlyk, who arrived with her two daughters in Springfield on June 21 — the last leg of a five-nation odyssey done without her husband, Yuri, who remains in Ukraine.
