Seventh grader organizes third food drive for Rachel’s Table
LONGMEADOW — Bassie Baron recalls the time when most of her birthday gifts would end up being thrown away or remain on a shelf for years.
After a conversation with her mother, Chany Baron, about her grandfather who did charity work by giving money and food to people in need, Bassie was inspired to follow in his footsteps.
Now, for the past three years, Bassie has organized an annual Thanksgiving food drive at Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy, where she’s in seventh grade, in which all students and teachers can participate.
